Sustainability

Intuit and sustainability

Intuit has long been focused on making a positive impact on climate, a significant issue that directly affects prosperity. Climate change touches all communities, ecosystems, and businesses, and we continue to feel those effects around the world. Intuit has taken meaningful climate action for the past decade. We are committed to helping the planet through initiatives within our operations as well as in the communities we serve beyond our value chain. We’re using our scale and resources to reduce our impact on the environment, provide sustainability solutions for our employees’ personal lives, and support programs that help our customers and communities thrive.

Champion innovative climate solutions

At Intuit, we know the work of caring for our planet begins with our own actions—starting at the corporate level.

In June 2023, Intuit announced our commitment to reach net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our value chain by 2040. This target has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a global body that enables businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. Our commitment is also aligned with the Paris Climate Accords, an international treaty on climate change that calls for net-zero global emissions by 2050.

Our science-based targets are near- and long-term for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and prioritize direct emissions reductions, or decarbonization, across our value chain. Any residual emissions will be neutralized, if applicable, in line with SBTi criteria before reaching net-zero emissions. While not part of our science-based targets, Intuit is also committed to continuing to procure renewable energy for 100% of our facilities.

Small and mid-market business sustainability

Small and mid-market businesses are the heart of vibrant communities. We understand the critical role entrepreneurs and small and mid-market business leaders play in building a sustainable future for all, and we aim to support them every step of the way.

We are committed to helping small and mid-market businesses and entrepreneurs embed sustainable solutions into their business models. Through educational initiatives, accelerator programs, and grant offerings in partnership with organizations like The Green Business Engagement National Network, California Green Business Network, Intuit’s IDEAS program, and Intuit’s Supplier Climate Action Accelerator, we aim to support businesses and reduce friction throughout their sustainability journeys.

Together, we’re building a brighter, more sustainable future, one small and mid-market business at a time.

Climate positive goal

For several years, we’ve been driving climate action beyond our value chain alongside community partners, Intuit employees, and other stakeholders. The aim of Intuit’s community-centric climate work is to drive innovative and impactful carbon reduction projects that also provide socioeconomic benefits in underserved communities, totally outside of Intuit’s internal operational sustainability efforts. We are doing this in communities and via Intuit employees, who are key contributors to our climate efforts.
